off road caravan with split air conditionerOne of the universal problems with caravans is their travel height and subsequent storage height. The development of the "pop top" caravan solved this issue but introduced the added problems of poor insulation and space utiliztion with this limited design. The Kimberley Karavan is an off road caravan that unfolds automatically with electric finger touch controls. It has a builtin "slide out" with a Super Queen Size Bed that takes a simple hand operation to engage. The benefit of this is a lower travel height similar to your 4WD. Combined with the feature of being the same width as a 4WD it can go where ever your vehicle can travel.

However, the roof top air-conditioner commanded a height premium on top of the roof canopy. Kimberley took the engineering challenge of replacing the roof top unit with a split air conditioning pack. Working with the Australian Manufacturer "Air Command" from South Australia, kimberley were able to engineer a 2.2kW unit into the Kimberley Karavan.

A great benefit is that the compressor and condensing unit are located in the front storage "Multi-box" whch is independent from the main Karavan saloon. This reduces the noise and vibration in the Karavan and is a significant comfort improvement over the roof top unit.

Here are the figures
